The project BATPOWER: PREPARATION OF THE VET LEVEL ON BATTERY ENERGY seeks to prepare the secondary VET level for the upcoming shift towards Battery Technology (Bat Tech) in the automotive sector. The primary objectives revolve around capacity development and professional enhancement at the secondary VET level, ensuring workforce readiness for the BatTech shift.

Additionally, the project aims to establish a strong network of stakeholders comprising educational institutions, industry partners, research and development centers, and governmental bodies. Ultimately, the project’s endeavors align with broader initiatives such as the European Commission’s Strategic Action Plan on Batteries, aiming to position Europe as a global leader in sustainable battery production and usage.

We need to particularly focus on preparing the new generation of workers with expertise in batteries to accommodate for future needs and to enable future investments.

Since HEIs can train highly skilled but only limited numbers of students, the education system needs a secondary VET level to prepare the sufficient number of battery experts and workforce for future production and application capacities within the national economies. This will be major challenge for all European industrial economies, companies and the educational sector.

The collaborative efforts of all partners involved in this project are rooted in their ongoing engagements with employers across various industries (machinery, automotive, education and training). These employers, cognisant of the evolving demands and challenges posed by the transition towards sustainable practices and share identified specific needs that necessitate proactive responses with participating organisations.
